With Sigura Construction, one team is responsible for your project from the first visit to the final walkthrough. You don’t have to hire and coordinate a separate designer, permit expediter and builder. Here’s exactly what happens at each step, and who handles it.

Our Design-Build Process, Step by Step

One team, six steps, from your first visit to move-in day.

  • 1. Free In-Person Estimate

    Ilan Sigura or one of our senior estimators visits your property, walks through the space with you and takes detailed notes and measurements. We don’t estimate remotely, because medium and large projects need to be seen in person to be priced accurately.

  • 2. Detailed Line-Item Proposal

    You receive a written proposal that breaks the project down by phase, labor and materials. It includes realistic time for permits and inspections, so you see the true schedule and cost from the start.

  • 3. Design and 3D Renderings

    Our team develops the plans and shows you the project in 3D before construction begins. We help you choose materials and finishes, and we coordinate architects and structural engineers when the project needs them.

  • 4. Permits and Approvals

    We prepare and submit permit applications, respond to plan-check comments and handle HOA approvals. We work regularly with building departments in Palo Alto, Los Altos, Atherton, Menlo Park, Hillsborough, San Jose and other Peninsula and South Bay cities.

  • 5. Construction & Weekly Updates

    Before work begins, you meet your dedicated foreman and agree on the schedule and a standing weekly meeting time. Your foreman runs the job site every working day, and you get a weekly progress meeting to review schedule and costs. If we find something unexpected behind a wall, we explain it, give you options and price any change order before doing the work.

  • 6. Final Walkthrough and Follow-Up

    We walk through the finished project with you and take care of every punch-list item. After you move back in, we stay available for touch-ups.

If your project starts with an insurance claim, we step in before design and construction begin. We document the damage, prepare a detailed rebuild estimate and negotiate with your insurance company for the full amount needed to restore your home.
